Woodcock Shooting
“Woodcock shooting on the Lairg Estate is the best I have ever had.” So one of the guns said last season.
Bags of 15 woodcock a day for 4 guns are not uncommon, and they can be either walked up over pointers or waited for during the morning and evening flights. The two I am holding were shot in the dusk and another three or four were missed!
The weather of course plays an extremely important part in woodcock shooting. We normally have to wait for the first frosts before any numbers are seen. We can arrange your whole trip, from a full week to just a couple of days.
