Reid's Cottage is a traditional highland croft in an outstanding location with commanding views of Loch Shin and the village of Lairg ~ excellent communications make it an ideal springboard to explore Sutherland, Caithness and Ross & Cromarty.
 
 
There is a wonderful sitting room with a large picture window affording far reaching views down the glen.
Enjoy looking at the ever changing scenery of Loch Shin whilst relaxing in front of the wood burning stove.

The kitchen has been professionally planned to make cooking as easy as possible. Dishwasher, microwave, large fridge/freezer, gas hob & double oven, make cooking a joy.


 



After spending an energetic day out-and-about you can soak in the centrally heated baths featured in both bathrooms. There is also a shower facility.
   

Having enjoyed your day, it's time for bed ~ the warmth of the electric blankets will ensure you have a good nights rest.
 
The Lairg Estate is famous for it's river, the Shin. This is one of the premier Salmon rivers in Scotland. With the season running from late May to the end of September. There are over 30 named Salmon pools, and the river accommodates 8 rods in total, fishing from both banks.
The Lairg Estate is known for it's Salmon fishing ~ but there is more ~ there are numerous rivers and lochs on the estate that provide a superb habitat for native brown trout. These are available from mid March until October. The prime months being April, May and June. The Estate boat is always at hand for an enjoyable days fishing.

 
 


Stalking plays an important part in the Estates life. With the Red Deer season running from 1st July to the 20th October, and the Hind season running from the 21st October to the 15th February ~ Reid's Cottage offers you an ideal place to base yourself for a stalking expedition. Sika and Roe are also stalked on the Estate.
 
  
 




 

Within easy driving time you are able to experience many of the Highlands treasures! Why not venture over to the West Coast of Scotland ~ Kylesku, Ullapool and Achtilbuie to sample some of the best seafood available in the country. Or head off on a shopping trip to Johnstons of Elgin, The House of Bruar, Made in Scotland Beauly, or Hunters of Brora for fine tweeds and cashmeres. Dornoch and Tain on the East coast are also a must ~ with antiques, local highland pottery and the famous Dornoch Cathedral, the Dornoch Gaol, and the renowned Glenmorangie Distillery.

There are enough golf courses in the area to enable you to play on a different course every day. They range from the world famous Royal Dornoch to the nine hole course at Bonar Bridge. Reid's cottage is at the centre of a golfers dream!



 

Reid's Cottage is close to many historic castles, gardens & country houses . Visit the Culloden Battle Fields, Cawdor Castle (right) and Dunrobin Castle (left).

Reid's cottage is situated above the village of Lairg ~ approximately 1 hours drive north of Inverness.
British Airways and Easy Jet operate regular daily services to Inverness from London Gatwick, Luton and Edinburgh.
Alternatively there is a comfortable sleeper train from London/Edinburgh throughout the year. Reid's Cottage has full central heating and comprises 2 double bedrooms, fully fitted Kitchen, Sitting room with TV, video & satellite; Radio/CD & cassette player, dining table for 6. American washing machine (takes 30 minutes) and extensive drying room. The cottage has recently been restored and decorated to the highest standard, offering you the opportunity to stay in utmost comfort whilst enjoying the natural beauty of the highlands.
All linen is provided, and a cook can be arranged if required. Dogs are welcome, (maximum of 2 and they have to sleep in the centrally heated porch).
