The Ardgay hatchery has the old system of egg trays, where
water flowed from one trough to the next.
The one advantage these have over the new system is that in the event of a water
failure, the eggs remained covered with water.
Whereas the new stacking units require a constant flow at all times
which must not be allowed to stop.

the eggs that are un-fertilised or bad, and not developing is a vital daily job.
