The Start of the 2006 season.
A cracking start to the Upper Shins season. 6 fish caught
last week 12th to 17 June. All were fresh run, one having tail less sea lice on.
The heaviest was estimated at 17lbs.
Fish have been seen in many of the pools and caught in Eleanor's, Meadow, Lady
Herbert and Frying Pan.
(Below), Alick Murray, with the second fish of the 2006 season. caught at
the tail of the frying pan handle.

This fish was tethered wile a camera was fetched from the
Lodge, this took about 20 minuets to arrive. The salmon just sat quite quietly
until Alick carefully picked it up for the above photo. It took slight exception
to this and gave a big wiggle, where upon the fish slipped out of his hand, this
should not have been a problem as it as still attached with a length of lime
through its gills and mouth. The salmon has other ideas and bit straight through
the line as if it was butter.

Below is James Tyser playing a very lively salmon off the
pier in Lady Herbert's. The fish took a skated sunray shadow opposite the stream
on the far bank.
